The days of relative calm and silence is apparently over, this after the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group returned from their short live furlough of terror activities. The ASG, known for their notoriety in kidnapping and head-decapitation psycho habit, is on the headlines again.
Reportedly, the terror group abducted a known female media personality and two of her crews while in Sulu for media coverage. Sulu province is one of the bailiwicks of Abu Sayyaf allied with different armed groups which is fighting the Philippine government for decades. Sulu also serves as the southern backdoor for terror groups coming from Indonesia and elsewhere.
One week after the abduction, the kidnappers have yet to give statement to the press or representatives of different sectors on the conditions of their hostages. Meanwhile, the government has prepared contingency measures to deal with the current crisis so as to assure the safe release of the victims. Without a doubt, the ASG is back with vengeance.
