By nomadicasian

Countries around the world are vying to land a place in the New Seven Wonders of Nature. The said event is now running in the World Wide Web and the internet voting will end in 2010 wherein the winning natural sites will be prominently declared as the best and historically relevant in this era.

In Asia, the Philippines got two nominations and they are the Chocolate Hills of Bohol Province and Tubbataha Reef of Palawan Province, both provinces are located in southern Philippines. The two places represent the country’s natural beauty and rich biodiversity that made the place truly wonderful.

Chocolate Hills which is 22nd on the current lists of nominees is amazingly formed by nature into a cluster of cone-like hills that one will express awe on how it became such a wonderful hills formation with its pristine beauty and vegetation. The place is one of the best tourist attractions in the country which makes Bohol province busy all year round.

The other nominee, the Tubbataha Reef although 24th on the lists is equally the best among the nominees. Tubbataha Reef, the vast and clear body of water off the Palawan shorelines is a marine park declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in the 1990’s.

The marine park offers the best diving sites in the world today and is also where endemic marine species and highly endangered and expensive napoleon wrasses can be found. Unfortunately, the pristine beauty of Tubbataha Reef is being raped by illegal Chinese fishermen once in a while.

And so the voting will continue until 2010. The people around the world have the responsibility to share their ideas on how they could make an impact to preserve the beauty and wonder of the world that they belong. For fore information please visit http://www.new7wonders.com.
