Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim’s offer of a hero’s welcome and a motorcade parade around Metro Manila was turned down by Team Pacquiao. The flamboyant boxer from General Santos City and his entourage of politicos and select friends arrived early this morning all the way from Los Angeles California USA.
Mayor Lim, known as the “Dirty Harry” of the Philippines is a political opponent of Pacquiao’s trusted mentor and ally, former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza. The former Mayor is one of Pacquiao’s political and father-like advisers who dictate the boxer’s private and public life.
The ‘Pacman” who always reminds his fellow Filipinos of unity and understanding every time he steps into the boxing ring, is sounding like a real traditional politician who play words in his mouth with insincerity. His trademark of “double speak” is in contrast to his billing as the “People’s Champ.” Pacquiao’s attitude only shows that he is only exclusive to his advisers, friends, fellow gamblers and scheming handlers.
If he is true to form, Pacquiao should’ve accepted Mayor Lim’s invitation for a hero’s welcome and trooped his waiting fans in the streets of Metro Manila. But unfortunately politics have gotten into the swollen ego of Manny “The Pacman” Pacquiao.
